Submitted by peter on Fri, 02/26/2010 - 08:18http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_World_Trade_Center_bombing It was a plot that did not work. Eight and a half years later the bastards succeeded.

Join the cause! Keep local radio stations free from paying tribute!
Submitted by peter on Tue, 02/16/2010 - 13:27Clear Channel aside, this is important. Evidently the RIAA is asking to get radio stations to pay a fee each time a song is played on the radio.

Somebody's Mother
Submitted by peter on Tue, 02/16/2010 - 09:18http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/index.php?date=2010/02/16
"If ever she's poor and old and grey,
And her own dear boy is far away."
"Somebody's mother" bowed low her head
In her home that night, and the prayer she said
Was, "God be kind to the noble boy,
Who is somebody's son, and pride and joy!"

Word of the day "internecine"
Submitted by peter on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 10:04http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/internecine
I don't think I will often have a word of the day. Maybe I should have a "word of the moment"? One thing about hechtmail.com is we do not have internecine discussions. We barely have any discussion at all to the outside world.

Why are the Democrats afraid of a filibuster?
Submitted by peter on Fri, 01/29/2010 - 17:04It seems to me odd that the leaders of the Senate don't allow the GOP to filibuster. It would appear they don't even want to entertain the option.
It seems cowardly to me. They don't need 60 votes. They need some courage.
One of the best quotes. Happy birthday Anton!

Newsday's $4 million bad web site for 35 users.
Submitted by peter on Wed, 01/27/2010 - 16:49Many newspapers are trying to make money off the net. This link: http://gatheringofthevibes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32465 talks about how Newsday spent $4 million for a new web site that filtered some content for subscription only viewing. The news is not how they only got 35 users, it is who was able to get $4 million to do the web site?
Many people left comments on the above site. Some are interestingly about the New York Times. Worthy of 10 minute review.

A new phrase for metro-sexual?

Courage to face complexity
Submitted by peter on Fri, 01/22/2010 - 10:49Albert Einstein is quoted as saying:
“Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius-and a lot of courage-to move in the opposite direction.”
http://thinkexist.com/quotation/any_fool_can_make_things_bigger-more_com...
Work, life and love is very complex. Is any one a genius, or even touched by one, to have the courage to move in the opposite direction?

While not usually the way I think of professional sports, it still exposes our weakness for them.

Big problems with the latest Quark XPress
Submitted by peter on Sat, 01/09/2010 - 10:26http://mac.blorge.com/2010/01/07/big-problems-with-quarkxpress-on-some-m...
From the outside looking in, it seems that Quark needs to review the way it releases software. They are hiring for Quality Assurance, that might help.
Why does Quark even use "Activation Manager" that seems to be whole problem? They should either remove it or give the program out for free.

I believe in Santa Claus
Submitted by peter on Thu, 12/24/2009 - 21:52Merry Christmas!!!
I have never seen Santa, but I am sure he exists. What could be the harm in that? Evidently, I am not alone. Galen believes as well! Even Norad believes! See
